Creative Data Concepts Limited, Inc. began as a sole proprietorship in 1993 in Gulf Breeze, Florida. In the beginning, our main focus was the sale and support of computers and computer components as well as database programming, computer support and network support. Most of our clients were business and residential clients located in the Gulf Breeze area. Our daily calls mostly involved PC upgrades, installation, troubleshooting and network installations.
At that time, the Internet and the Web were barely in their infancy and not readily available outside academic and government circles. Toward the middle of 1995, interest in the Internet and Web began to grow exponentially. Many techies (today they might be know as hackers) created Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and offered Internet connectivity via telephone lines and modems. Their services allowed the consumer market access to the Internet and Web and provided them with email services. Consumers flocked to connect. The demand for PCs and service grew and the Internet craze was in full swing.
In 1996, Creative Data Concepts Limited partnered with the iCat Corporation offering Web design and Web hosting services for companies in need of e-commerce services. As our business grew, we clearly understood the value of the Web but could not envision the long-term profitability of any ISP in a market where technology and hardware changed almost daily. ISP business models were weak, showed little potential for generating a profit and violated many proven business axioms. Creative Data Concepts Limited made the decision to focus solely on the development of dynamic and database driven Web sites and the Web hosting services required to support these Web sites. We accomplished this initially by partnering with a local ISP and co-locating our servers at their location. This approach served us well as we expanded our client base.
By early 1998, our business grew steadily while those in the ISP business either merged with other companies or went belly up. Closer to home, The ISP where we co-located our servers was about to shut its doors. At that point, we at Creative Data Concepts Limited moved into our next phase of growth - as an independent Web hosting service.
